Structural Fire Protection
Passive fire protection of structural steel: systems, fire resistance ratings, section factor, testing, inspection and maintenance.
Steel loses strength and stiffness as its temperature rises, so many buildings require structural members to achieve a fire resistance period set by building regulations. Passive protection systems slow the temperature rise of the steel.
Protection thickness can only be determined from the tested and assessed data of a specific product, for the actual section, exposure and required period. We do not publish generic thickness values.
