Steel Liner Panels for Metal Building Interiors

Steel liner panels for metal building interiors: light profiled sheets that protect insulation, give a clean finish and, when perforated, help control sound.

Key features

  • Protects insulation from damage and dust
  • Clean, washable interior finish
  • Perforated option for acoustic absorption
  • Light pre-painted colors improve interior brightness
  • Full-height or partial-height wall lining

Liner panels are light profiled steel sheets fixed to the inside face of purlins and girts. They form the interior surface of a double-skin roof or wall, enclosing the insulation between the liner and the outer sheeting. The result is a clean, washable interior with the insulation protected from damage, dust and moisture.

Liners are common in factories, sports halls, workshops and food facilities where exposed insulation facing would be easily damaged or hard to clean. Walls are often lined to a certain height to resist impact from forklifts, balls or tools, while roofs may be lined fully for appearance and hygiene.

Perforated liner panels, used with acoustic insulation behind them, absorb sound and reduce reverberation. This is useful in sports halls, event spaces and noisy production areas. The perforation pattern and the insulation are selected together to achieve the acoustic effect required.

Liner profiles are usually shallower and lighter than the outer sheeting, and they are commonly supplied in light pre-painted colors to improve internal light levels. Fastening, laps and trims at openings are detailed so that the liner is neat and the vapor control layer, where required, is continuous.

World Steel supplies liner panels with the roof and wall system, coordinated with insulation, outer sheeting and secondary framing. Profile, thickness and finish are selected for each project, together with trims to finish corners, openings and base details.

In the specification, state where liners are required, the lining height on walls, the finish and color, and whether acoustic performance is needed. The liner, insulation and outer sheeting are then selected together as one roof and wall system.
